The $1500 Experience

The pricing for the Rift according to Oculus CEO, Brendan Iribe is for people that don’t have a PC that is built and dedicated to gaming. For those who have the proper gear (i.e. monitors, mice, keyboards, etc) the Rift will be priced between $200-$400. This price range makes sense as building a PC that is strictly for gaming can cost upwards of $1000, with the Rift added on you will be looking at $1500. Many non-PC gamers were taken aback at the pricing as it was deemed too expensive but when broken down to the individual components for the Rift, it was viewed as somewhat reasonable but still considered to be pricey.

The Oculus Rift is one of the many VR (virtual reality) gaming headsets that gives the user a 3D VR experience and emmerses them into the world of the game they are playing. With sensors that can detect when you turn your head, it translates that to in-game movement and has 2 screens within the visor to stream high-def video.

The Oculus Rift is set to be released during Q1 of 2016.
