This is a list of all the items that can be scrapped for crystal:
Method 1: Jamaica Plain Townhall Basement
The townhall is a destroyed orange building with a statue in front of it. After entering it, head to your left and you will find the door to the basement. To pick the Advanced lock on the door to the basement you will need level 1 of the Locksmith perk. After entering the basement, open the door to your left, and turn right. You should now be standing right in front of the laser tripwires. After disarming the tripwires, you can click twice on the red button at the end of the corridor to reactivate them. Once reactivated, they are ready to be disarmed again. Note: This methodology might be considered an exploit by some players, and that’s why I’m providing some other options in this guide.
Method 2: Farming Microscopes
This is a list of the best places to find microscopes: If you grab all the microscopes from these locations, you will be able to scrap them into 58 crystal. Note: To access Greentech Genetics, you need to follow the main quest until “Hunter/Hunted”. This is their location on the map of the Commonwealth:
Method 3: Buying Crystal From NPCs
Buying crystal from an NPC saves you the trouble of having to find and scrap items, but you will have to give up some of your bottle caps. It’s not worth it if you are just starting out, or if you don’t have a steady supply of caps yet. These are all the NPCs that sell shipments of crystal: And this is their location on the map:
