The free Wastelanders update for Fallout 76 will officially arrive on April 7 for Steam, the Bethesda.net launcher, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The trailer above also teases the addition of a new bow weapon for players to discover.

In addition to non-player characters, Wastelanders will reportedly include an option for companions at your base camp. A new reputation system is also due to be added, ranging from Hostile to Ally, as you interact with human factions.

Fallout 76 noticeably excluded human NPC factions at launch. In a world typically teeming with life, it was an oversight that pained many of the game’s players and was a major point of contention.

The Wastelanders updated has been in production for some time, and has seen several delays since it was first announced. Here’s to hoping it actually releases on schedule this time. A Fallout game without NPCs just isn’t the same, and Bethesda can’t keep relying on players to fill the roles left behind.
