To make catching both regular and legendary fish easier, the rod is customizable, like nearly everything else in Dani’s arsenal. With that in mind, you’ll want to seek out fishing spots where you can upgrade the rod first. But once you get there, you’ll need to know how to fish.

How Do I Fish in Far Cry 6?
The fishing rod lives in your weapon wheel, so you can grab it at any time. Technically, Far Cry 6 lets you trawl in any body of water, but the best places to do so are in the areas marked as fishing spots. These are denoted by
You’ll have a higher chance of getting rare catches, plus this is where you’ll find the orange tackle boxes that let you upgrade your rod. Fishing spots marked with a fishhook tend to have common fish, such as carp, while markers with specific shapes are where you’ll find rarer catches, such as sharks, barracuda, or angelfish.
Once you’ve settled on a spot, cast your line using the “RT” (Xbox), “R2” (PlayStation), or left-click on PC. The longer you hold the button down, the further you’ll cast.
Shake the line and gently start reel in the line to attract fish, then follow the on-screen prompts to pull it in. Make sure you move your control stick or mouse in the opposite direction as the fish is pulling.
Fishing Hut Upgrades
If you’re very keen on spending time near the water, purchase the Fishing Hut at one of the three guerilla camps Dani helps establish. Upgrading the hut gives you new bait, brochures for unlocking new fishing spots — including legendary locations at the highest level — and the option to hunt with guns without damaging their meat.
Each time you upgrade the Hut, you also get a piece of the Fishing Outfit, which carries with it buffs that make things even easier, including one that keeps other predators from attacking you.
Upgrading your rod requires gunpowder, because, of course, it does. The Fishing Hut is completely separate from that, so you’ll need to scavenge the necessary materials from FND bases throughout Yara.
